1 day Moremi safaris.

 Day safaris to the nearby Moremi game reserve are very popular with guests with limited time. A surprising amount of game can be viewed on these trips. From mid May to  mid August our trips start at 6:30am and return at 6:30pm, the rest of the year they start at 6:00am and return at 7pm. Warm clothes are necessary during the winter months and rain gear during the rainy season ( late November to late March). After passing through the “Buffalo fence”an hour out of Maun you will enter some of the top wildlife areas that Botswana or even Africa has to offer.

We send you out with a tea, coffee, cereal and rusks for a light breakfast stop a little before you reach the park gate. At around 1pm your guide will pick a scenic spot for you to have a lunch of bread, cheeses, cold meats, salads and fruit. We send 2lts of bottled water per person. We also supply a cooler with ice for any extra drinks you may wish to take.

Nxai Pan

2 day Moremi/Santawani Safari special

Every Wednesday from the 1st of February to the 5th of July we are running a special that consists of a full day in Moremi, a night at Kaziikini (a community campsite in the Santawani area) and a morning drive in Santawani.
Departure is at 8am on day 1 and arrival back is at 2:30pm on day 2. Accommodation is in 3m x 3m tents with a comfortable bedroll (with linen) on the floor. The campsite has communual ablution facilities.
Meals (vegetarian and vegan options are available) on the first day include a packed breakfast and picnic lunch for your full day game driving in Moremi.
When you arrive in the early evening at Kaziikini our staff will have set up your camp and prepared your dinner. Early morning on day 2 at around 5am wake up and have a light breakfast of cereal, rusks, tea and coffee. Depart at 5:30am for a 5 and a half hour game drive in the Santawani and Gomoti area. Arrive back at camp at 11am for a full cooked brunch. Depart Kaziikini at 1pm for your drive back to Maun.

Okavango Air Rescue – Emergency Evacuation Service

Okavango Air rescueThe Old Bridge Backpackers is pleased to team up with OAR which operates a Helicopter for Emergency Evacuations. The current radius of operation is Northern Botswana and the Central Kalahari.

Anyone booking one of our Mobile safaris has automatic coverage.

OAR is based in Maun and transports medical assistance to its Patrons by Helicopter in the event of a medical emergency. Professional staff on board will treat and stabilize you at the scene of the accident or incident. Patrons will then be flown to the nearest appropriate location or medical facility from where further arrangements will be made.

OAR is a private organization financed by the annual contributions of its Patrons. Each contribution entitles its Patrons, travelling within OAR’s range of operation, to one free, medically necessitated air rescue per year. The contribution is not an insurance premium, but is a payment that assists to keep the Helicopter airborne.
